Minutes - 11/5/03
FRIENDS OF THE BAYLEY HOUSE MEETING
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. at the home of Aloha Adams.
Those present were Aloha Adams, Thiaa Besan, John Crane, Sandy Sendt, Kris and Larry Syversen. Minutes were not available but would be e-mailed to all later.
Treasurer Aloha Adams reported a balance of $2,709.42. We received $100 from George Tafoya for the buns, etc. Other receipts were not in yet from the October dance. Need a report from Jaime Tafoya about the Gold Hill Winery money owed us from the dance in July. Also he was to call the distributor for the soda; we have to see if they will take them back.
We are waiting for a proposal from the Historic Preservation architect. John Crane calls that office every week to check on the matter. OHP is waiting for this paper work.
Prop. 12 Grant would give $140,000, 20% at a time=$28,000. Western Sierra Architects contact is Richard Wyatt, 101 Orange St., Auburn.
Sandy Sindt informed the group of the funding sources - The J.M.Kaplan Fund and the 1772 Foundation.
The Kate Croft property has been suggested for a community park. A letter was sent to the BOR to request a meeting to consider that land for ball fields, etc. Sandy needs feed back on our yearly activities and Fog Valley Park. Someone is to make contact with Tracy Bacitch by writing a letter.
Lillian Lafaille's book, A Country Woman Remembers, will cost $125 to register with the Library of Congress, $10 for the ISBN. The third page has been changed to read "Published in conjunction with The Friends of the Bayley House." We hope to have it published by the 1st of December. We need a better picture of Lillian. Someone will call the Library of Congress to ask about the ISBN number. We voted to move forward with the book. Our cost will be $640. Calico Rose to be asked to sell the book for us.
A spring Barn Sale was proposed as our next fundraiser.
Election of officers was not held as the members voted to amend the bylaws to read that the election of officers will be held every two years.
Someone will call Jaime Tafoya about the documentary film for the next meeting. We will view the film and critique it.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
Respectfully submitted by
Thiaa Besan, Secretary
