California Amateur Radio Emergency Service
CARES is seeking FCC licensed volunteer Ham radio operators to work with the Department of Health Services' amateur radio equipment which includes both VHF/UHF and high frequency fixed and mobile transceivers. We are currently recruiting to increase our volunteer team to handle radio traffic during those emergencies that may occur at any time throughout our State. In a major disaster CARES and its affiliates may be the only communication link into the stricken area. DHS has CARES stations in Sacramento, Berkeley and Los Angeles. We would also like to establish CARES stations in the San Diego and Eureka areas. Those of you interested may contact me via e-mail or call the number below.
