• Lost Hunter in the Crystal Basin - 2008
A deer hunter in the Crystal Basin set out on his all-terrain vehicle and subsequently on foot. He became lost and could not find his way back to camp or his ATV.
He managed to reach his wife with his cell phone. EDSO was contacted. A Hasty OHV search was started early on Sunday, October 5, 2008. Subsequently, the subject was able to reach Sheriff dispatch (911) and report the USFS road number that he encountered on foot.
Tom Hadden located the subject, who was tired after being out all night but apparently okay.
Apparently the lost hunter was using his cell phone, flashlight and compass in close proximity, which may have contributed to his loss of direction.
Thanks to all who came out - OHV made quick work of it during the "Hasty Phase" Tom Hadden and Daniel Hansler teamed up for the find - Tom's second find of the summer! Wife was relieved and husband a little embarrassed. See you on the next one.
